The DK Eyewitness books have high quality, interesting pictures. This one if full with gorgeous pictures of old contraptions that the pioneers of electricity used to test their inventions. As a museum of electricity, this book is perfect.

Realize that you/your kid won't learn that much about what electricity is, or how it affects our daily lives.
